1. Introduction

Welcome to Direct Recruit. This Privacy Policy describes how Direct Recruit Inc. ("Direct Recruit," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our platform.

By using Direct Recruit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy and our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account or use our services, we may collect:

• Account Information: Name, email address, password, phone number
• Profile Information: Photos, bio, position, height, weight, graduation year, school, team, athletic stats, and highlight videos
• Recruiting & Academic Information: Depending on your profile type, you may provide academic information (such as GPA, test scores, class rank, AP/IB coursework, and intended major), athletic information (such as position, measurements, stats, star ratings, and film/highlight links), and recruiting preferences. Some of this information is sensitive. This may include indications of financial-aid or scholarship need and whether you identify as Pell-eligible or a first-generation college student, your home ZIP code and preferred geographic regions, and academic transcripts or other documents you upload (which may themselves contain grades, test scores, disciplinary records, and the names and contact information of parents or guardians). We use this information to operate recruiting, search, and matching features. You choose whether to provide sensitive fields; some matching features will be limited if you do not.
• Communications: Messages sent through our platform, posts, comments
• Recruiting Status: Offers received, schools of interest, transfer portal status
• Subscription & Billing Information: Subscription tier and status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, billing period dates, and payment history. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details — those are handled directly by Stripeyour platform's payment processor (Apple on iOS).
• Support Communications: Emails, phone inquiries, and other correspondence you send to our support team.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access our platform, we automatically collect:

• Device information (browser type, operating system)
• IP address and approximate location
• Usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent)
• Profile view history (which user profiles you viewed and when)
• Engagement data (posts, likes, comments, saves, shares, follows)
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies

2.3 AI Feature Data

Our AI-powered features (available to eligible subscribers) generate additional data that we log for analytics, billing, security, and product improvement:

• Queries and inputs you submit to the AI
• Information derived from your inputs in order to return results
• Results returned to you and basic information about your interaction with those results
• Technical metadata such as timestamps, usage metrics, and session identifiers

2.4 Derived Signals and Inferences

We generate inferences from your activity and profile. For college players, certain features (such as Portal Intelligence) analyze signals — for example, updates to your bio or profile, the language used in your bio, the timing of film uploads, and patterns of coach interest — to estimate the likelihood that a player may be considering the transfer portal. These inferences are estimates, are surfaced to college coaches who use our recruiting tools, and may be inaccurate. They are not statements of fact about your intentions or your standing with any team.

2.5 What Is Shared With Our AI Provider

When coaches use AI search features, we send our AI provider the coach's typed query and the conversation context. To return useful results, that context can include limited information about players who appeared in the conversation — such as first and last name, position, measurements, GPA, state, team, division, eligibility, offers, and stats. We do not send login emails, contact emails, home ZIP codes or precise location, financial-aid wording, or a college's internal admission thresholds. AI Match scores are calculated on our own systems and are never sent to the AI provider. Our AI provider processes this data to return results. The information shared with the AI provider may be retained by that provider and may be used to improve or train its AI models. We do not sell this information.

2.6 Information Collected Outside an Account

In some cases you may submit information to us — such as a recruiting questionnaire or an uploaded transcript — without creating an account, at the request of a coach or program. We collect and store this information to deliver it to the requesting coach or program. Because transcripts and questionnaires may contain a minor's sensitive academic and personal information, only the student or their parent/guardian should submit them, and a parent or guardian must consent if the student is under 18. This information is retained as described in Section 10.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Create and manage your account
• Enable communication between users (players, coaches, etc.)
• Allow eligible subscribers to discover and connect with other users, including through AI-powered features
• Process subscription payments, renewals, cancellations, and plan changes
• Surface anonymized or aggregated information about platform activity to other users where appropriate
• Rank feeds, search results, and suggested connections based on engagement and relevance
• Send you notifications about messages, follows, and platform activity
• Send important updates about your account, subscription, or our services
• Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience and product quality
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues
• Comply with legal obligations

Information you provide, including academic, athletic, financial-aid, location, and preference information, is used to generate search results and AI Match / Best-Fit results that may be shown to colleges and coaches (and, for your own results, to you).

We do not sell your personal information. Information shared with our AI provider to power AI features may be retained and used by that provider to improve or train its AI models, as described in Sections 2.5 and 4.

4. Information Sharing

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• With Other Users: Your profile information is visible to other users based on your privacy settings. Eligible subscribers can search for and view profiles, including through AI-powered search, and your profile may appear in those results.
• Anonymized or Aggregated Data: The platform may surface anonymized or aggregated information about user activity to other users as part of the Service. Such information is limited to what is described in our product interfaces and does not disclose identifying information about the originating user.
• Service Providers: We share data with third-party vendors who help us operate the platform, including:
  • Cloud infrastructure providers — hosting, authentication, file storage, and email delivery
  • Payment processors — subscription billing and payment management. Payment processors receive billing information directly; we do not store full payment card details.
  • AI service providers — used to process queries and generate outputs for our AI-powered features. Information shared with these providers may be retained by them and may be used to improve or train their AI models.
  • Optional integrations — such as linked highlight-video services, if you choose to connect them
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest
• Industry-standard authentication with hashed credentials and secure session tokens
• Regular security reviews and access controls
• Payment data isolation — full card details are handled only by Stripeyour platform's payment processor, never stored on our servers

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
• Privacy Settings: Control who can see your profile and contact you
• Communications: Opt out of promotional emails

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, and similar laws in other states), including the rights to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your information; obtain a copy or portable version of it; opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. You may exercise these rights through your account settings or by contacting us at jackson@directrecruit.net. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request, and you may appeal a decision by replying to our response. We will verify your request before acting on it and respond within the time required by applicable law.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

• Keep you logged in
• Remember your preferences
• Analyze site traffic and usage
• Improve our services

You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect functionality.

8. Minors and Parental Consent

Direct Recruit is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13; if we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. Parents who believe their child under 13 has provided us with information may contact us at jackson@directrecruit.net.

Many of our users are high-school athletes who are minors (under 18). If you are under 18, you may use Direct Recruit only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and a parent or guardian must agree to our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy on your behalf. We ask for date of birth and parent/guardian contact information to support this. By allowing a minor to use the Service, the parent or guardian consents to our collection and use of the minor's information as described in this Privacy Policy, including academic, athletic, location, financial-aid-related, and preference information, and the use of that information in search and AI matching features that may be visible to colleges and coaches.

We apply additional care to minors' information: parents or guardians may contact us to review, correct, or delete their child's information. We do not knowingly sell minors' data or use it for targeted advertising. Where state law grants minors or their parents additional rights regarding minors' personal data, we honor those rights.

9. Third-Party Services

Our platform integrates with third-party service providers in the categories listed in Section 4 (cloud infrastructure, payment processing, AI services, and optional integrations). Those providers process data under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties and encourage you to review their policies directly.

10. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. After account deletion, we may retain certain information for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution purposes, including:

• Billing records and subscription history
• AI analytics records (retained for product improvement and billing audits)
• Logs of reported abuse or ToS violations
• Recruiting questionnaires and uploaded transcripts submitted to a coach or program, including those submitted without an account, which are retained to maintain the recruiting record for the requesting coach or program. To request deletion of a transcript or questionnaire you submitted, contact us at jackson@directrecruit.net.

Most other profile data, posts, messages, and uploaded media are removed when you delete your account.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
